Black Sabbath (heavy/trad doom/hard-UK)

Black Sabbath est un groupe de heavy metal traditionnel britannique fondé en 1968 à Birmingham au Royaume-Uni. Il est l'un des groupes fondateurs du metal et est souvent considéré comme le premier groupe de ce genre.

La formation originelle de Black Sabbath était composée de Tony Iommi à la guitare, Ozzy Osbourne au chant, Geezer Butler à la basse et Bill Ward à la batterie. Cependant, le groupe connut plusieurs remaniements, avec un total de vingt-et-un anciens membres, parmi lesquels on peut citer Ronnie James Dio, Tony Martin, Ian Gillan et Glenn Hughes. Tony Iommi est le seul membre à être présent depuis l'origine sans interruption.
Inventeur du riff lourd et lugubre parfaitement en phase avec son style « sombre », le groupe doit beaucoup au jeu de guitare développé par Tony Iommi, dont trois doigts avaient été entamés lors d'un accident dans son précédent emploi d'ouvrier métallurgiste.

Black Sabbath reste une influence dominante dans la scène heavy metal, et ses six premiers albums sont considérés comme des classiques du genre ; en particulier, le second, Paranoid, plusieurs fois disque de platine. De plus, MTV classe Black Sabbath à la première place dans son classement des plus grands groupes de metal. À ce jour, le groupe a vendu plus de cent millions d'albums à travers le monde.

difficile de choisir entre la période ozzy osbourne et la période james dio.

j'ai quand même un petit faible pour l'album Heaven And Hell

mais ça reste un groupe mythique!

Personnellement, je préfère la période Ozzy Osbourne, surtout les 4 premiers albums.
Par contre, je préfère dio en solo qu'ozzy en solo.

Exactement pareil que toi Hepha, je préfère Dio en solo et Ozzy avec Black Sabbath. C'est peut-être parce que j'ai énormément écouté la période avec Ozzy depuis que je suis toute petite et c'est que par après que j'ai connu Dio. Mais attention j'adore Dio quand même hein!

Je connais pas beaucoup Black Sabbath...simplement le début avec Ozzy et j'aime beaucoup...

Pour moi, Black Sabbath, c'est avec Ozzy et c'est tout. Il a pas le niveau vocal de R.J. Dio, c'est sûr, mais sans lui, c'est plus Black Sab, il fait partie du son du groupe.

Les six premiers Sabbath avec Ozzy touchent au sublime. les deux derniers, bof. J'accroche pas trop à la période Dio malgré d'indéniables qualités, par contre j'ai deux disques avec Tony Martin au chant, c'est vraiment pas mal. Je dirais même que Headless Cross est un excellent disque très très sous-estimé.

Bon j'avoue que si je peux les voir j'irai probablement car j'adorerais entendre les classiques de SABBATH sur scène mais voilà quoi...
Et c'est pas vraiment une surprise, Ben BARBAUD disait en 2010 qu'il aimerat beaucoup signer signer SABBATH pour le Hellfest 2012...

According to Talkingmetal.net, Osbourne, Iommi, Butler and Ward came to a decision 14 days ago to go ahead with the reunion, and this morning (Monday 15 August) the group convened in a secret rehearsal studio to begin to begin working on a live set - and what will hopefully be a new album.

Comme c est étonnant ...

Je n'aime pas du tout les albums Never Say Die (Ozzy au chant) et Born Again (Ian Gillan de Deep Purple au chant).

Mais là j'écoute Seventh Star avec Glenn Hugues (un ancien de DP aussi je crois, si Alex peut confirmer) et j'aime vraiment beaucoup!
Le heavy metal flirte avec l'AOR à certains moments, ça me plaît bien ça!

Oui, Glenn HUGHES a remplacé Roger GLOVER qui a quitté PURPLE en 1973, en même temps que GILLAN, qui avait été remplacé par David COVERDALE. Il avait apporté une touche plus "funky" à DEEP PURPLE. Il joue sur les trois derniers albums studios sortis dans les 70's : "Burn", "Stormbringer" et "Come Taste the Band" sur lequel Tommy BOLIN remplace BLACKMORE.
C'est le boxon hein les line-up de DEEP PURPLE
Pour les albums plus obscurs de SABBATH, je te conseille l'excellent "Headless Cross" sorti en 1989 avec Tony MARTIN au chant. Je suis loin de connaitre tous les disques de SABBATH, mais celui-ci est très bon. Evite "Cross Purposes" par contre qui est très moyen. "Tyr" a de bonnes critiques mais je ne l'ai pas encore écouté.
Je ne connais pas non plus "Seventh Star" dont tu parles, mais je le prendrai à l'occasion, il me semble que mon discaire l'a en vinyle pour une misère.

Oui j'écoute Headless Cross en ce moment et Martin a une voix parfaite, encore meilleure que les deux albums précédents. Des fois, par contre, on dirait qu'il essaye de ressembler un peu trop à Dio mais ça le fait quand même.

Qu'est ce que j'ai pu écouter les albums "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", "Paranoid" et "Dehumanizer" ! Pendant un moment j'appréciais bien plus la période avec Dio mais aujourd'hui, j'aime autant les deux périodes ! Vivement le Hellfest

Pour moi, Dehumanizer, c'est 3-4 titres bons titres, mais trop peu pour vouloir posséder l'album!

J'adore Dio, ça doit jouer :p

Moi aussi, mais y a quand même un fossé gigantesque entre Dehumanizer et Heaven And Hell/Mob Rules, pour moi!

J'ai lu ça, c'est laid pour IOMMI. J'espère qu'il va s'en sortir, pas comme DIO.

C'est mort pour SABBATH... j'espère que IOMMI va guérir...

OZZY & FRIENDS TO PERFORM MAJORITY OF OTHER

SCHEDULED SHOWS
BLACK SABBATH --who late last year confirmed the recording of their first new album in more than 33 years and a worldwide headlining tour--have had to put some plans on hold due to Tony Iommi’s battle with lymphoma. At this time, BLACK SABBATH will perform only one show of this summer’s previously scheduled European tour. It will take place Sunday, June 10 at the U.K.’s Download Festival.

So as not to let the promoters and fans down, OZZY OSBOURNE will now perform the majority of the previously scheduled BLACK SABBATH dates (both festival performances and the headlining shows) billed as OZZY & FRIENDS. These “first ever” OZZY & FRIENDS shows will feature appearances by “special guest” musicians including GEEZER BUTLER (who will join Ozzy for a special BLACK SABBATH set as a show of respect and support to their friend, Tony Iommi) and longtime former OZZY band member Zakk Wylde. In addition, OZZY will be accompanied by longtime collaborator and friend Slash at select shows, with other “special guests” set to join the tour at various stops along the way (full list of dates, appearances below).

Tony Iommi continues to make excellent progress and is looking forward to getting back out on the road. Meanwhile, BLACK SABBATH continue to write and record music in the U.K. for their upcoming album. More information about these dates and BLACK SABBATH’s recording and touring plans is forthcoming.
